Mary Lou Carlan has more than 30 years experience in risk management and insurance as an agent and consultant.
Mary Lou began her insurance career in Florida where she worked with a large regional brokerage firm. She specialized largely with mid-market commercial real estate, habitational, condominium and construction related clients. In 1992, she relocated to Georgia, and secured a position with a local mid-market broker expanding her specialties to include retail and healthcare products related risk management.
As a Vice President-Account Executive with Lockton Companies for 12 years she continued to work with large real estate clients. At this time, she expanded her risk management and consulting skills with diverse other industries and gained extensive experience with international manufacturing, distribution, health care, hospitality and transportation firms. In this role, her major responsibilities included performing detailed risk exposure and retention analysis including collateral negotiations for large loss sensitive insurance programs and negotiating placement, terms and pricing with major insurance carriers to secure the most competitive options available for clients.
Working with Durrett & David Risk Management enables Mary Lou to bring her experience to work directly on the client’s behalf to review and recommend various risk management strategies as well as to develop program design along with management of broker and vendor relationships and consulting services.
Mary Lou attained her Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriting (CPCU) designation in 1997 and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation in 2005.
