William McPherson (“Mac”) Durrett
William McPherson (“Mac”) Durrett has over 35 years’ experience in risk management and insurance as an underwriter, broker and consultant. In these capacities he has worked with both mid-market and large multi-national companies based both in the U.S. and in Europe. He has extensive experience with clients working in a variety of industries including heavy and light manufacturing, hospitality, facility services, real estate, construction, higher education, not-for-profit, public entities, chemical, transportation, technology, hazardous waste processing, private equity, family office, healthcare products and services, heavy equipment, financial services, food, farming, agri-business, professional and intercollegiate sports, retail sales, multi-family habitational, condominium associations, professional services and textiles.
The consulting services Mac offers to clients include risk management and insurance audits; due diligence assistance in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures; risk funding and retention analyses; administrative studies; insurance and risk management program design; management of competitive vendor and broker bidding processes; strategic planning and continuous counsel.
Mac is President of Durrett & David Risk Management, Inc., having joined its predecessor firm, D. L. Tibbals Risk Management Consulting Inc., in 2003. He began his work in insurance in 1982 when Mac became an underwriter for Chubb and Son Inc., working in their Atlanta office and later relocating to open an underwriting department in Chubb’s Charlotte office. Mac returned to Atlanta in 1988 when he joined insurance broker, Johnson & Higgins Inc. (J&H), which was later acquired by Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (Marsh)
As a Vice President in Marsh’s Atlanta office Mac served a number of roles including Broker and Client Executive for mid-sized and large multinational companies, Manager of J&H’s International Department, and Sales Leader of Marsh’s Risk Management Department.
Mac received his BA from Kenyon College in Ohio. He is a member of the Society of Risk Management Consultants (SRMC), presently serving as Chair of their Membership Committee, and has served as Trustee of The Southern Center for International Studies, and Trustee of Congregations for Affordable Housing.
